About Green Customs

Green Customs is a one-person guitar workshop run by Chris Schryer. The business grew out of a player's obsession with getting the most out of every instrument.

Chris has been playing guitar for over two decades — through bands, studios, garages, and living rooms. Like a lot of players, he started doing his own setups out of necessity, learned fret work by watching too many YouTube videos, and somewhere along the way realized he was spending more time at the workbench than on stage.

The repair side came first. Then a curiosity about pickups led to the launch of Side Quest Pickups — hand-wound one at a time, voiced the way Chris wants pickups to sound. The electric rebuild concept followed naturally: take an import guitar with great bones but weak electronics, replace everything that matters, and end up with an instrument that plays and sounds like something worth twice the price.

The acoustic builds are the newest chapter. Chris is hand-building acoustic guitars from scratch — a slower, quieter kind of work that's just getting started. If you're interested in getting on a list, reach out.

Everything that leaves the shop has been played, adjusted, and signed off on. No instruments go out the door until they're right.
